Singapore: Singapore reported 14,228 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday afternoon (February 27), including 14,064 local cases and 164 overseas cases.

The death toll rose to 8, including deaths from coronavirus complications to 1,007.

There are 1,553 patients in the hospital, according to a new case report posted on the Ministry of Health (MOH) website. A total of 214 patients required supplemental oxygen.

There were 46 patients in the intensive care unit, 50 on Saturday. Most novel COVID-19 viruses in Singapore fall under Rule 2 and are diagnosed as healthy or mild.

Of the events reported on Sunday, 11,864 were classified under Rule 2, of which 11,809 housed 11,809 patients and 55 foreigners.

A further 2,364 people were diagnosed with PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and 109 of them were infected.

Outbreaks rose weekly to 1.14, from 1.21 on Saturday.

Singapore has recorded around 710,880 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak. As of Saturday, 94% of Singapore's population was eligible for vaccination under the national immunization programme.

About 67% of the population is vaccinated.
