Bayern Munich will face Villarreal in its second quarter-quarter Champions League match on Tuesday, despite poor performance in the first match because many are in danger, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann said on Monday.

The Bavarians suffered their first league loss this season, losing 1-0 to Spain last week with the dominant Villarreal after they were also hit by a tree and wasted several chances to score.

"We are playing the wrong game and they are playing their best game," Nagelsmann told a virtual press conference. "It will never happen again, playing twice badly against the same opponent."

The Bavarians were also far from their best in a 1-0 victory over Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday and were unable to win a corner in the first half.

Nagelsmann said that although there will be a slight decline in form, it is only temporary. "We've given it before, and we have to be like that tomorrow. We have to, we have to, we want to get the most out of it."

Bayern raced for the tenth title in the Bundesliga in a row and in 2020 finally won the Champions League.

"Maybe tomorrow will be a sparkling game on our part," Nagelsmann said.

The six-time European champion Bayern is the favorite against Villarreal, who reached the semifinals of the Champions League in 2006. The Spaniards defeated Bayern in the first match with Nagelsmann and said that his players should be more aggressive on Tuesday.

"We had to increase our full intensity. We didn't take the last steps, the last meters in the first section. We had to play more uncomfortable football," he said.

"We made a lot of mistakes. They made one to keep us alive. They could have scored a lot of goals, but we're still alive and we have to show it on the field tomorrow.
